Adobe Reader 9.1.3 patch is out

Adobe published a fix for a vulnerability in Adobe Reader 9.1.2 and earlier. This will bring the version number up to 9.1.3.

You can download the 1.6 MB patch via FTP.

(This patch was not available yet from their FTP site this morning.)

Adobe Flash 9.0.246.0 and 10.0.32.18 published to fix vulnerability

Adobe published a security bulletin announcing an update for Flash Player v9.0.159.0 and v10.0.22.87. It is recommended to update Flash Player to 9.0.246.0 or 10.0.32.18, which closes a critical security vulnerability.

Vladimir Vukcevic: Mladic within reach

The Washington Post quoted Vladimir Vukcevic saying that he believes that Ratko Mladic is "somewhere within reach." Vukcevic was also quoted as saying that he is certain Mladic is somewhere in Serbia and that he expects that Mladic will be captured by the end of the year. This is not unthinkable with a Serbia that aims to become a member of the EU.

There still is a US$5 million reward for his capture.

Slovenia, Croatia attempting to solve border dispute

Slovenian prime minister Borut Pahor and Croatian premier Jadranka Kosor will try to resolve their border dispute, which is hurting Croatia’s attempt to join the EU.

Last year, Slovenia vetoed Croatia’s EU entry. Croatia is targeting completion of EU membership talks this year and is hoping to join 2010 or 2011.

ICJ starts hearings in Kosovo independence case on December 1

The International Court of Justice will begin hearings in December regarding the case of the legitimacy of Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence. Apart from Serbia, who brought the case to the ICJ, 36 UN member states filed written statements about the case.

Serbia still searching for Mladic

Rasim Ljajic, president of Serbia's National Council for Cooperation with the The Hague Tribunal, said Serbia is working with foreign intelligence services to track down Ratko Mladic. This is mainly to exchange information. Ljajic said the latest hunt for Mladic was conducted a week ago.

The capture of Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic are key conditions for Serbia to join the EU.

Vojislav Seselj sentenced to 15 months for contempt

Serb nationalist leader Vojislav Seselj has been jailed for 15 months for contempt of court by the International Criminal Tribunal.

Seselj was convicted of disclosing the names and details of protected witnesses at his war crimes trial.

He is also accused of forming a criminal enterprise with the late Slobodan Milosevic to "ethnically cleanse" parts of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia.

Former Kosovo minister Haraqija acquitted

Kosovo's former culture minister Astrit Haraqija, who was sentenced by ICTY to five months in prison in December for intimidating a war crimes witness, was cleared on appeal.

The ICTY acquitted Haradinaj in April last year of charges of "ethnic cleansing", including murder and torture of minority Serbs, after a trial marked by the reluctance of several witnesses to testify.

EULEX presents Kosovo report

EULEX chief Yves de Kermabon presented a 136-page report on the rule of law in Kosovo. It identified some weaknesses in the country's judicial system, especially the fact that it is still not completely independent. The security of judges was also criticized.

EU urges Serbia to fulfill ICTY commitments

While on a visit in Serbia, EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said that the European Commission fully welcomes Serbia's EU aspirations but warned that its commitments to ICTY must be fully met. Rehn specifically mentioned the capture and axtradition of Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic, and their extradition to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
