iTunes 11: recognized and synced via WiFi for first time since 10.7 (or not)

Since I upgraded iTunes from 10.6 to 10.7 and at the same time updated my iPhone to iOS6 syncing via WiFi stopped working. iTunes simply stopped recognizing the phone. Even when tethered via USB iTunes frequently didn't recognize the phone. Or it would recognize it but then the backup failed for "unknown" reasons.

After I installed iTunes 11 it actually recognized my phone and synced it over WiFi!

Now, there is a chance that this is a coincidence, but we'll see tomorrow.

Update December 3, 2012

A day later and it is was back to its usual behavior of not recognizing the phone. But after rebooting both the desktop and the phone iTunes did recognize the phone.

Unfortunately, the typical error "The iPhone cannot be synced. An internal device error occurred." popped up. After that error the phone disappeared from iTunes' device list.
