ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz reiterated that the arrest of fugitive Ratko Mladic must remain a condition for Serbia’s accession to the EU. “We don’t have a lot of time. The tribunal will close in three to four years. The victims demand that the justice is served,” Brammertz explained in an interview with Belgian dailies La Libre Belgique and De Standaard.
The arrest of Mladic has always been a key condition for Serbia's bid to join the EU.
Earlier, Brammertz has stated that “there is a gap between expressed political readiness” to arrest Mladic and Hadzic, the course of the search itself and “doing what is necessary” that was preventing the search from being successful.
