EULEX consists of three components, all reporting to the deputy head of the mission, Roy Reeve.
Police Component
The Police Component assists the Kosovo Police in creating a multi-ethnic police force, free from political interference — as should be expected according to the well-accepted model of trias politica.
This component's strength will be 1,400.
Justice Component
The Justice Component is intended to improve and strengthen the judiciary system, free from political interference, and capable of holding fair trials.
Total staff is 300, including 40 judges and 20 prosecutors.
Customs Component
This component's mission is to facilitate legitimate trade in support of Kosovo's economy and to provide law enforcement to prevent and detect illegal trade.
Total staff is 100.
