USAF F-16 shot down

AFSOUTH, Naples - A U.S Air Force F-16C has been shot own over Bosnia. There is no information to release on the status of the pilot. Search and rescue efforts are underway. The single-seat aircraft was flying a routine Operation Deny Flight mission when it was observed by accompanying aircraft to be shot down by a missile, at about 1300 GMT (local Bosnia time — 3 p.m.). Information on the location of the aircraft is not available. The aircraft was based at Aviano AB, Italy, as part of the Operation Deny Flight force.
