Mandate of EU Special Representative extended

The EU extended the mandate of its Special Representative in Kosovo, Pieter Feith, until August 31, 2010.

Slovak foreign minister Miroslav Lajcak said that Feith must respect individual views of all EU member-states when it comes to Kosovo.

Home Mladic raided

Serbian police raided a house belonging to family of fugituve Ratko Mladic. The property was surrounded while a search was conducted.

Pressident Croatia inaugurated

Ivo Josipovic has officially was inaugurated as the president of Croatia in Zagreb. He is the third Croatian president elected since the country gain independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.

UN will try Mladic even after ICTY closed

ICTY chief prosecutor Serge Brammertz said that if Ratko Mladic has not been arrested by the time the tribunal closes down, the UN will develop a mechanism for enabling a trial before the international court. Should Mladic be arrested sooner, there is a possibility that his trial could be joined with Karadzic's process.

ICTY rejects Karadzic appeal

ICTY has rejected Karadzic'a appeal against the decision to appoint British lawyer Richard Harvey. The tribunal stated that it is in the best interest of justice to limit Karadzic's ability to impede on court proceedings.

Further KFOR reduction planned by 2011

During a meeting in Istanbul, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said NATO will further reduce it's KFOR presence by 2011 to 4,000 troops. This would free up resources for operations in Afghanistan. NATO will contribute 30,000 troops.

KFOR reduced troop strength

NATO has reduced its KFOR troop strength by approximately 2,600 to 10,000. In the new structure, KFOR will consist of 10,000 troops from 32 countries. This plan was approved in July 2009.
