Serbia's UN draft resolution on Kosovo amended after international pressure

Serbia has amended the draft resolution it intends to present to the UN General Assembly. The condemnation of Kosovo's secession will be dropped, and the resolution will call both sides to a dialogue. That dialog is to be held under supervision of the EU, not the UN.

The amended draft has the support of all 27 EU members, with the notion that Spain, Romania, Cyprus, Greece and Slovakia continue to refuse to recognize an independent Kosovo.

German and British foreign ministers Guido Westerwelle and William Hague meanwhile warned Serbia that it was risking its ties with the EU by focusing its entire diplomatic effort on preventing Kosovo from gaining recognition.
